Take a moment to remember and appreciate Pastor Suzanne’s graphic creation skills.

Sermon Recap

  • Pastor Suzanne reminded us of Newton’s laws of motion: An object at rest wants to stay at rest, and an object in motion wants to stay in motion. So as we look to build habits that help us build our bridges, getting started is often the hardest part.
  • Suzanne taught about how Nehemiah had to overcome his fear because of the culture, his history, and his personal story to start the process of doing what he knew God had called him to do.
  • She shared about her own experience of having to choose to take a leave of absence from her college ministry job in order to follow God’s call for her. She knew she needed and wanted the kind of transformation that would create, but it went against all of her natural instincts to make that decision, and then God met her in that space.

Reflection Questions

  • As you think about the bridge God is inviting you to build this year, what are you afraid of or anxious about?
  • When have you successfully done something hard or scary to complete a goal in the past? What helped you do that?
  • Have you identified your first step towards building that bridge yet? If not, take a few minutes to think and pray about what that first small step could be.
  • Spend a few minutes praying for God to give you courage and the strength to do what he has called you to do.
